CAN WE CHALK!!!

by in Blog

SIMPLE DAYS

Remember when you were a little kid and your parents gave you that piece of chalk and told you to go play on the sidewalk?  It used to be just plain white. I would draw the hopscotch board on the sidewalk and jump around with my best friends for hours. The memory takes me back to simpler days. This weekend the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival will take you back to those days.

Today that chalk comes in dozens of colors and even different sizes. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, even with her short attention span, will chalk her little mind pictures on our front porch to her hearts content. Even Poppa will get on his hands and knees and show her some of his art work. Believe me when I say, we keep plenty on hand and in stock.

Lake Worth Street Painting Festival

 BIGGEST FREE FAMILY FESTIVAL

Well, this weekend, Feb. 23 and 24, and every year for the past 25 years you can see a large number of those little artists, now grownup, draw their mind pictures on the street in Lake Worth. It’s fabulous, the array of imagination you will encounter.  You will most likely have to inch and elbow your way to the front to get a better look.  Like when you were in grade or high school squirming your way to the front to get a closer look at this weeks school yard fight.

Our annual Street Painting Festival http://StreetpaintingFestivalInc.org, on the streets of Lake Worth has grown to have quite the following.  It is now touted the largest FREE block party of them all. The festivities take place on the two main drags, Lake Ave. and Lucerne Ave. and stretches into several of the smaller side streets. The Art you will see is nothing short of amazing. Not to mention the assortment of shops and restaurants available for you to pick and choose from.

TAKE THE RAIL

There will be music for your soul both days, all day, beginning at 10am-6pm.  Enjoy varied genres on the main stage on the corner of Lake Ave and M Street. Do yourself a favor, and take the rail. Our local commuter train system, http://transitapp.nethttp://Tri-rail.com,will drop you off at the Lake Worth Station underneath the I95 overpass.  From there you can catch a free trolley downtown to where all the action takes place. It’s well worth the extra few minutes and the weekend pass charge of $5 for a round trip ticket. You can also catch a free trolley ride from the parking lot of our Palm Beach State College Campus at 4200 S. Congress Ave.

A fantastic choice of weekend entertainment for the whole family, Lake Worth Beach is just over the bridge when you’ve seen enough of the beautiful artwork and are ready for some R&R.
